"Nick of Time" is a collection of thoughts, memories, and musings on the lessons I learned while training and trialing my first agility dog. Nick was a Montana Stock Dog. The breed was developed by Montana cattle ranchers as an all around stock dog. Border Collies, Blue Heelers, and English Shepherds were cross-bred and the puppies were selected for working characteristics. From the day I first saw Nick (as a 6 week old pup) in June of 1993 until his final breath in December of 2004, he gave me 100% effort in everything I asked of him. The lessons I learned from Nick are his legacy, to be passed along to you in these pages. I intend this to be (roughly) a weekly newsletter, beginning in January 2005, just a few weeks after Nick ran on ahead. INDEX:
